How are we wearing denim this summer? Here's the new rulebook
Denim has eased into summer with lighter fabrics, relaxed cuts, and softer washes. Wide-leg trousers, easy-to-wear denim dresses, and reliable skirts are replacing heavy jeans, making denim just as wearable on warm days as linen or cotton.
From button-down midis to clean-cut maxis, denim dresses are taking the spotlight this season. Darker tones and defined waists work well for evening, while pale blues and relaxed shapes bring movement and comfort during the day. Skirts, whether mini or mid-length, transition easily from errands to evenings with just a change of shoes.
If jeans are still your go-to, opt for lighter washes, white denim, or soft pastels in breathable fabrics and looser fits. Paired with a tank top or oversized shirt, they will feel fresh and easy.
Hot weather doesn't mean giving up your favourite fabric. Just update the fit, lighten the feel, and leave denim in your summer rotation.
